BIG DEVIL FALLS |
|
| RATING - 4/10 TYPE OF APPROACH - Roadside DIFFICULTY - Very Easy LOCATION - Newhalem Area TYPE - Plunge HEIGHT - 200' WIDTH - 25' |
Big Devil Falls occurs where an unnamed stream drops off the side of Big
Devil Mountain in a massive plunging waterfall of about 150'. Below this, the creek
cascades for another 50' or so. On a recent trip, I noticed another fairly tall drop through the trees further down the mountainside. This indicates that the falls may be much taller than what can be seen, possibly over 1000' tall! |
| DIRECTIONS - Drive
east along Highway 20 through the town of Marblemount. In about 10 miles the falls
should be clearly seen across the river high up the mountainside. There is a large
pull out that offers the best view NEARBY WATERFALLS - Granite Gorge Falls, Ladder Creek Falls, Newhalem Creek Falls, Newhalem Falls, Purgatory Falls |
