On my last trip up
Cascade River Road, after visiting Forest Glen Falls, I stopped and took a peak down the
hill on the opposite side of the road and saw the top of another falls. It was hard
to tell but I thought it might be 30' tall. So I headed back up the other day and
climbed down the hillside to discover the lower falls. The falls begin with a
sliding drop about 10' tall. This is followed almost immediately by a plunge of 10'
and then the main 50' tall drop. The main drop freefalls for about 30' before
hitting the bedrock and spreading out into a nice fan shape. The falls are framed on
the right side by two massive boulders almost as tall as the falls themselves. This
falls is a little tough to get to but shouldn't be a problem for anyone in reasonable
condition. It's definitely worth the effort to view. |
| DIRECTIONS - Follow
the directions to Forest Glen Falls. The Lower
Falls are located on the right side of the road down the hill. Head down the steep
hillside on the east side of the creek for about 130 vertical feet until you can get over
to the creek for a clear view. NEARBY
